My Love Affair With Grilled Scallops

Whenever I open a cookbook in search of seafood recipes, there’s something in particular that I’m hoping to find. Once, at my brother’s wedding, I ate grilled scallops that blew my mind. They were wrapped in crispy, salty, mouthwatering bacon, and grilled to tender perfection. There was also a hint (but not an overwhelming, annoying surfeit) of sweet sauce. I keep an eye out for some grilled scallop recipes that might bring back just a bit of that good memory. Sometimes, browsing seafood recipes, I’ll try grilled shrimp instead. Grilled shrimp with pineapple almost hits the spot, with a similar juxtaposition of flavors.

Grilling shrimp and scallops arouse many aroma filled good memories. Another choice that sounds good would be grilled shrimp that come with a side order of cooling gazpacho. Sweet cucumbers and tomatoes, with a bit of cilantro, go with the light seafood flavor just right. However, it only means that I’m left unsatisfied, wanting more and better. That gives me pause to ponder a long-gone moment that I can never get back. Then I page hurriedly through the fish section, seeking anything vaguely resembling a recipe for scallops.

I have to eat scallop, whether they’re made in a sweet or an herbed recipe. I eat them until I’m so full I can burst and enjoy every minute! I’d eat grilled scallops on a skewer. Grilled scallops on a buffet table. Grilled scallops adorned the bed of greens. Pasta with grilled scallops through and through. Grilled scallops surrounded by tasteless cafeteria mush. Grilled scallops as my last meal in prison. Dehydrated and reconstituted grilled scallops are served to me in space. I’d eat grilled scallops with a side of brains if I were a zombie.

If I were a vampire, I’d ignore Bella’s thumping pulse entirely and dive into the ocean in search of scallops. Those scallops were delectable. I haven’t found any since that tasted so good. Please, for the love of all that is holy, I just want to eat those grilled scallops for the rest of my life!
