Italian Soup That Soothes You
Soup has always been a comfort food for Italians. What’s more relaxing and soothing than sipping a bowl of soup right before having the main meal. An old saying in Italy says that soup does seven things; it quenches your thirst, satisfies your hunger, fills up your stomach, assists you in digesting food, makes your teeth shine, blushes your cheeks, and helps you be asleep.
An Italian cuisine caters to different kinds of soup. Generally, a minestra contains either pasta or rice partnered with vegetables or beans perhaps. A minestrina is a much lighter broth soup added with a small amount of pasta or rice. Minestrone, on the other hand, is a much heartier, thick soup. Last but not least, zuppa differs from all the others because of the additional bread so as to thicken or just as a condiment.
